Watch the Two Nested Loops play out in a real creative project. Step through six moments with Maya as she develops a mini-comic, name the competency each one shows and then see how the inner and outer loops nest. Finish by finding the same loops in a collaboration of your own.

Part II: Now find your own loops

This is the part you do. Think of a collaboration of your own: with an AI system, with a human (an editor, printer, contractor, co-writer), or one of each.

  1. Where do you run the inner loop: describing what you want, evaluating what comes back, refining? Where does that loop break down?
  2. Where does the outer loop operate: the decisions about what gets handed over and what stays yours, and the responsibilities you carry when the work goes into the world?
  3. How do the two loops interact in your practice?
  4. If you compared a human collaboration with an AI one, what did the human collaborator do that you had to do yourself?
